4 Content Marketing Podcasts Every Founder Needs To Hear
undefined
People must think I am wildly introverted—but to me, there is no better thing to do first in the morning, but to pour a cup of coffee and listen to a content marketing podcast for forty-five minutes. Content can be consumed in many forms, and as I sit and listen to that clear voice traveling through my living room (and as I sit in my favorite chair), I come to realize how much I enjoy this form of information digestion.
Think about it. When you listen to a podcast, you focus on one topic for up to forty-five minutes. Your brain is consumed on this topic, soaking it in, analyzing it, thinking about it, and commenting on it.
We live in an attention scattered world. How many of you have more than five tabs open currently on your browser? (I sheepishly raise my hand.) Experts predict that we have as much as 60,000 – 80,000 thoughts a
day
running through our heads!
I have read many times and with various articles active learning happens when your mind is focused on a specific topic in a time interval. So, it might be time to cancel out those extra website tabs with the content marketing article that you do not seem to be reading.
If I want to read and digest quality information, I sit down and listen to a podcast. I believe it allows me to narrow into a specific niche and keep those 60,000 thoughts centered on one topic. And like I said, listening to a podcast is one of the best ways for me to learn new things and digest new information.
As an online service provider, it is time to take the next step in your online marketing. I have said time and time again how content marketing should be a major pillar in your marketing strategy.
Content will strengthen your online authority, attract traffic through an online search, nurture your prospects into buyers and grow your email list. It is the beginning building blocks to creating an online community that values your product/service and becomes a reoccurring audience.
I grow my content marketing knowledge base partly through content marketing podcasts, and the below are my top four.
# 1 This Old Marketing
I agree 100 percent with Joe Pulizzi and Robert Rose when they mention that the concept of content marketing is not new. People like telling stories to attract and keep others interested. People listen to stories and build trust with the speaker through knowledge building and partnership. Old concepts; new medium. Listen to
‘This Old Marketing.’
# 2 CopyBlogger FM
I would say CopyBlogger FM by Rainmaker Digital is a top in the industry. The host Sonia Simone really understands copywriting and content marketing. Her years of insight, trial and error and experience alone are a great resource in these short thirty-to-forty minute episodes. And she is not the only brains in the operation.
Simone brings on the show content marketing industry experts to share their own advice and experiences. Why do I like CopyBlogger – because it digs down to the mechanics of quality content writing. Content is about helpful information, and it should be high-quality written content specifically for your audience.
# 3 HubSpot Skill Up
The HubSpot Skill Up podcast might not seem like a content marketing candidate at first glance, because the basis of this show is search engine optimization (SEO). SEO is a major step in making sure your content is distributed well and found online. Content should be made for your audience, but if your audience is not searching for that topic, is it really worth it? Skill Up will give you all the practical SEO tips and tricks to jumpstart your online content.
# 4 The Craft of Marketing
I am a bit late to the game with the podcast,
The Craft of Marketing
, but it is still published online (or on podcasts streaming apps) and the wealth of content marketing knowledge has not gone away. Seth Price is the industry expert and voice behind the podcast, and he hosts a series of Marketing Directors and Content Leaders on the show to do a deep-dive into their experiences and lessons learned. That type of valuable information never expires.
I share a few more of my favourite content marketing podcasts on our MTC YouTube channel.
As a founder of a startup, you have little time to dedicated to knowledge learning. Because of this, a morning commute or coffee-sitting time is a great time to digest new ideas and keep learning. If a content marketing strategy is on your agenda, these four content marketing podcasts will jumpstart the journey and make you into a marketing pro.
